WHEN you've little or nothing to do even the most mundane of tasks can provide a distraction.
In 1966 in Acrehill Road in Blackhill, local kids gathered to watch this workman mix sand and cement to brick up one of the many abandoned closes in the rundown scheme.
While the older boys plagued him questions and posed for our camera, the younger ones, left, took charge of his bricks and set about doing some building work of their own.
The area has been redeveloped in recent years, with much of its housing stock having been demolished and replaced.
This was taken the year before I was born but I can tell you it looks like Maxwelton Rd before it was demolished. Great pic and hopefully folk will try and name the weans that are all grown noo, that wid be great.
